It was a pleasure to attend the 'Hopeful Horizons' Parliamentary drop-in by Children's Services Development Group (CSDG).
The aim of the meet up was the enact child-centric, needs-driven reform to futureproof the lives of our vulnerable children and young people and those with SEND.
Their policy asks were as follows;
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Education (SEND)
- National Standards, banding and tariffs
- Speeding up the building and registration of new services
- Digitalisation of EHC plans
- Change programme
Care leavers
- Local authority offering
- Extension of the care leavers allowance and transitions support bank
- University accommodation
- Criminalisation of care leavers
- Care leavers' confident employer scheme
Children's social care
- Regional Care Cooperatives
- Voluntary oversight scheme (financial oversight of the sector)
- Speeding up the building and registration of new settings
- Ofsted inspection framework
As an advocate and as one of my priorities as local MP - I do care a lot about the needs of SEND children in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, and beyond. That's why I'm in support of CSDG's manifesto.
