I am outraged by Danny Beales' decision to vote in favour of cutting winter fuel payments for pensioners. This reckless move will have devastating consequences for some of the most vulnerable people in our community, particularly at a time when energy prices are soaring, and many elderly residents are already struggling to cope. Winter fuel payments are not a luxury—they are a necessity, ensuring pensioners can heat their homes during the coldest months without sacrificing their basic well-being.
To strip this vital support away from those who need it most is a betrayal of our pensioners and shows a shocking disregard for their welfare.
Voting to remove this vital benefit from our respected pensioner community is a blatant and shameful action that betrays the people that our new Labour MP was elected to serve. Clearly, personal political ambition is a higher priority for Danny Beales and his cruel new Labour Government.
As former MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, I have always fought to defend the rights of our elderly residents, and I will continue to stand up for their needs and dignity in the face of such irresponsible, callus and shameful choices made by our new Labour MP and Government.
