Today I paid my respects to the fallen by attending the Remembrance service at St Matthews in Yiewsley. It was a solemn and moving reminder of the sacrifices that were made to secure the freedom we have today.
I also met Linda Southby.
Linda's husband Ron, a veteran in a big part of the Yiewsley community and St Matthews Church, passed away on the 9th of November.
Both Ron and Linda knew my Dad and used to take me home from swimming training when I was a child.
Linda and her family recognised me today and it made me feel honoured as your local MP, born and brought up in UXSR and now serving my constituents who knew my family since I was young.
Thank you also, to local Councillors who laid a wreath on my behalf:
Cllr. Adam Bennett in Hillingdon West.
Cllr. Ekta Gohil in Cowley.
Cllr. Richard Mills in South Ruislip.
Cllr. Farhad Choubedar in Uxbridge.
Cllr. Colleen Sullivan in Hillingdon East.
We will remember them. Today, and always.
