On Thursday the 1st of February 2024, the local Member of Parliament of Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Steve Tuckwell MP and Secretary of State, Gillian Keegan MP visited Uxbridge College.
The visit primarily involved an introduction to Harrow, Richmond, and Uxbridge Colleges (HRUC), Uxbridge College's work on Language Server Index Format (LSIF) and post-merger update regarding Richmond College last year.
Steve Tuckwell and Gillian Keegan heard from West London Institute of Technology, apprentices, T-Level students and employers on various topics, such as their Project Ambition, which involved plans for future investment into Uxbridge College, which the local MP supports.
Uxbridge College students used the Secretary of State's visit as an opportunity to showcase their progress on CNC/3D workshops. The Secretary of State got to see engineering and F1 car design in action. For example, the students used machinery to create the Department of Education logo!
Both Gillian Keegan and Steve Tuckwell received a tour of Uxbridge College's industry spaces, including electric car workshops, and wind turbine use.
This was the first visit for the Secretary of State, and one of many from the local MP Steve Tuckwell, and both will continue to have strong relations with HRUC's Uxbridge College.
