Between 2010 and 2020, 7mill people in the UK were unable to access their post at some point, this is usually because they don't have a fixed address, they're moving around frequently or they are victims or survivors of domestic abuse, where someone is intercepting their post. This can lead to serious consequences like missing healthcare appointments, employment opportunities and financial losses.
That's why Citizens is calling for Address & Collect - a service that would allow people who don't have access to their post to collect their letters at a post office and share a correspondence address with services.
As I used to work for the Royal Mail myself, I know that Address & Collect will ensure that all residents of Uxbridge and South Ruislip will have equal access to our nation’s postal service – fulfilling the social responsibility obligation to the community.
It's also the type of idea that could be attractive to local business start-ups too, and could help to regenerate local economies as well as being a potential source of new revenue streams for the Post Office and Royal Mail.
Email me at [email protected] if you agree Address & Collect is a good idea, title the email 'Address and Collect' and I will take it further.
