I really enjoyed visiting Hillingdon Abbots Rugby Football Club last Saturday to present certificates and awards to their youth players and volunteers.
It was great to join them on celebrating another successful season for HARFC's long established community rugby club.
Youth rugby offers so much to young people, and it is truly an inclusive sport, open to all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes.
Alongside the clear physical health benefits, rugby also promotes discipline, respect and teamwork that transcend the sport and provides significant benefits that can be applied more widely to a young person's life journey.
While retention rates among young people starting rugby are strong, sadly attracting new players remains a challenge for the sport, particularly for smaller community clubs like Hillingdon Abbots RFC.
During the summer months HARFC will be running some free summer sports sessions with the aim of not only getting kids out from behind the screens but to also foster a sense of community and bring people together.
They will open their doors for the new rugby season again on the 7th of September 2024, and would welcome any new players coming along to try rugby and learn more about this amazing sport.
Please see the flyers attached below, and share them with your friends and colleagues with children interested in rugby.
They are also looking to recruit a Rugby coach - if you know someone interested, please do share it with them and get in touch!
