I am tremendously grateful for being invited to the Europe India centre for Business and Industry (EICBI) in collaboration with IETO and India Commonwealth Trade Council for the panel discussion titled "Closer Engagement of UK India Corridor with the wider commonwealth" on 28th November in Parliament.
According to the Office of National Statistics, as the 2021 census stands, the ethnic demographic in Uxbridge and South Ruislip is 25.7% Asian, and 7% African, and 5.1% Mixed. These statistics show how UXSR host many differing cultural communities, making the constituency very diverse in our talents and skills.
It was therefore hugely important for me to contribute to the discussion, which convened as a multifaceted platform, uniting Commonwealth nations to explore facets of trade, innovation, culture, and collaborative endeavours, with specific emphasis on India, Africa, and the UK.
The event's agenda was structured to encompass critical themes including youth involvement, technological advancements, trade partnerships, green economy initiatives, and the promotion of ethnic inclusivity.
It was even more wonderful for me to have constituents of UXSR in the audience, a lecturer at Brunel University on the Panel, as well as a medical professional from Hillingdon Hospital also on the Panel.
In essence, the conference successfully addressed the need for collaborative efforts, leveraging innovative technologies, promoting inclusive trade practices, and building robust relationships among India, Africa, and the UK within the Commonwealth framework.
As your local MP, I will work with my colleagues in Parliament and various Ambassadors to push forward our contribution to the UK and Commonwealth's partnership in trade, tech and youth opportunities.
