One thing I love about being an MP is going to the Chamber to ask questions on behalf of my residents. On behalf of UXSR, where I have lived all my life, I know how much community activities matter - and football is a big part of that. That’s why I asked the Sport Minister Stuart Andrew MP on his commitment to ensure our grassroots football clubs not only survive, but flourish.
In my question, and in other opportunities in the chamber, I highlight the important work by my constituency's grassroot football clubs, such as Wealdstone FC, Uxbridge FC and Hillingdon Abbots. They do tremendous work on getting younger people active, especially girls and SEND children.
Following from my question I asked, which you can access here. I attended Youth Sport Trust Parliamentary drop-in. Youth Sport Trust is a children's charity founded in 1995 to harness the power of play and sport in children's education and development.
It was fantastic to meet Mo Farah CBE, where he announced his mission to get young people active for at least 60 minutes a day, or at least 20 minutes a day for disabled children. This requires long-term joined-up policy and funding - something I definitely support.
