It is infuriating but not surprising that Sadiq Khan is still looking for ways to punish residents in outer London, particularly those in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, for not agreeing with him on his ULEZ tax.
One of the points behind ULEZ was to encourage people to utilise public transport more, but recent reports from the House of Commons Library shows that bus mileage in Hillingdon has decreased.
The Council asked for an express service to Uxbridge from our Elizabeth line services, but he instead ignored us again and proposed a cut to our existing service linking Uxbridge and West Drayton.
Sadiq Khan also speaks of combining the U1 and U3 services, which will reduce bus services to three an hour at their busiest times. This will not improve the current U3, which is not quick nor direct, and it currently takes an hour to get to Heathrow from Uxbridge – quicker to get there by car!
Not only is Sadiq Khan offering longer journey times with less frequency, but he is also reducing access to our sites. For example, Brunel University want to expand their remit, but Khan’s axing of U1 and the reroute of U2 will do the reverse.
Even one of my six priorities, rebuilding Hillingdon Hospital, we will have greater passenger numbers, so we need more buses – not less!
For years, Hillingdon Council has asked for improvements, but TFL’s new plans hardly address anything we have asked for, at the expense of our constituents facing poorer bus services and an increase of cancellations and delays.
Have your say in TFL’s survey below, and share your views on Khan’s cuts, which he disguises and rebrands as improved services.
